Alberto's Thesis Defense
J. Alberto Navarro-García started his thesis project in 2016 at Cardiorenal Translational Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Gema Ruiz-Hurtado. During the last 4 years he has been working on cardiac effects developed in an experimental chronic kidney disease (CKD) model. He has been working with 5/6 nephrectomy, an animal model that reproduce human CKD. Alberto has analyzed calcum handling in ventricular cardiomyocytes isolated from CKD mice and also the possible role of FGF-23 and klotho as the link between cardiac and renal systems in pathological conditions.
The results of his work are included in his Doctoral Thesis rated as Sobresaliente Cum Laude and that got the international mention.
